Forced From Home Exhibit
Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres, MSF) have an exhibit at Pioneer Courthouse Square this week, Forced From Home. Hours are 10-5 until October 20. It takes about an hour to be led by an MSF volunteer through the various stops.
As you enter, you are greeted and given an identity: country and refugee status. Among the stops are a tent with surround video that puts you in some forms of travel and among various refugees in different countries.
Another exhibit shows means of travel.
Other exhibits allow for discussion of various statuses of refugee and the help they can or cannot expect, food allotments, preventive medicine, disease treatment, and housing.
The experience expanded my awareness of the MSF mission from my previous conception of them as working only in field hospitals, and it made more vivid the dangers and obstacles refugees face. It is definitely worth seeing if you can fit it in.
